Introduction to Vacuum System Modeling
You can perform vacuum system modeling using COMSOL Multiphysics®. In this previously held webinar, you will get an introduction to the software's functionality for vacuum system simulation. This includes a look at the Molecular Flow Module, Microfluidics Module, and Particle Tracing Module, all add-on products to the COMSOL Multiphysics® software that provide expanded features and capabilities. This webinar in particular focuses on use of the Molecular Flow Module, in which two specific features are highlighted:
- The Free Molecular Flow interface — for extremely low gas density
- The Transitional Flow interface — for intermediate gas density, but at high computational cost
From there, we outline the logic behind which module is most appropriate to use for your vacuum system model. The Adsorption and Desorption of Water in a Load Lock Vacuum System tutorial model is then used to demonstrate use of the Free Molecular Flow interface. Several of the settings and features of the interface are highlighted and discussed in detail, with complementary demonstrations in the software.
This webinar is relevant to recently released versions of COMSOL Multiphysics®. You may notice small differences between versions. You can learn more about the Molecular Flow Module, Microfluidics Module, and Particle Tracing Module through their respective product pages.
