Modeling Convection

Hello all,

I want to model two squares placed inside an air chamber. One of the square is at a specified temperature and I want to know the temperature of the other square due to the temperature of the first square. I think convection plays a major part too as buoyancy effects come in as the air gets heated from the first square.

Would be great if anyone could help me with the module to use and the appropriate boundary conditions.

Thanks!

You can either invoke the Bouissineq approximation in the standard spf and ht modules or use the CFD module which solves the full Navier-Stokes equations. Have a look at

to get started.

Be aware that convergence may be an issue that requires a careful choice of solver and other settings. This has been my experience, in contrast to some other modules where convergence is more or less guaranteed with default settings.
