Issue in neff value getting on screen and how to calculate bend loss using Module titled "step index fiber bend"

Hi, I am using the module titled "step index fiber bend" to simulate bent fiber on COMSOL. On computing mode analysis for bent fiber ' neff comes around 0.02 to 0.05 along with the mode going out of core. Can anyone explain this neff is real or imaginary or modulus of (complex_neff) and how to calculate bend loss . For calculating bend loss I require Imag(n_eff).
