Modeling Heat Transfer and Thermal Radiation
In this archived webinar, we focus on thermal radiation in transparent media and explore two examples of modeling heat transfer with COMSOL Multiphysics® and the Heat Transfer Module. The first model combines conduction, convection, and radiation to examine the thermal performance of an electronics heat sink. This process involves accounting for fluid flow, heat transfer, and surface-to-surface radiation, all in a single model. The second model delves into a thermal radiation example, showing how wavelength dependency can be incorporated in a radiated heat transfer model and how the greenhouse effect can be simulated. We conclude the presentation by highlighting a few other applications of the Heat Transfer Module, including the ability to model radiated heat transfer in an orbiting satellite.
