Getting Started with Building Simulation Apps

Using Layout Templates to Build Simulation Apps

The Application Builder in COMSOL Multiphysics contains multiple layout templates that you can use to quickly get started in designing a simulation app of your COMSOL Multiphysics model. Here, we demonstrate the use of a few of these templates and provide an overview of the main components of the Application Builder. We also go over navigating the workspace as well as performing some small level of customization to an app.

Follow along in the software by watching the videos below.

Tutorial: Using the Single Form Template

Tutorial: Using the Subwindows, Sections, and Graphics Template

The simplified thermal microactuator tutorial model is used as the model example with which to build apps from. Making changes to the app using the Main Window editor window is shown. An overview of the topics covered in the tutorial video is as follows:

  • Using the Form Wizard
  • Form templates
    • Single form
    • Subwindows, sections, and graphics
  • Overview of the Application Builder workspace
    • Form Editor
    • Main Window Editor
