When designing oxygen masks for delivering respiratory support to patients via BiPAP and CPAP, multiphysics modeling helps visualize the flow pattern inside the mask for a given design. From there, it is possible to estimate oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide accumulation, and ... En savoir plus
This benchmark model computes the load-carrying capacity of a one dimensional hydrodynamic step bearing. The results are compared with analytic expressions obtained by solving the Reynolds equations directly in this simple case. En savoir plus
This tutorial illustrates the use of the connecting features in the Heat Transfer in Solids and Heat Transfer in Shells interfaces, to couple them to a Lumped Thermal System interface. The results obtained with the solid and shell models are compared. En savoir plus
Tesla microvalves exploit the non-linear nature of inertial flow to create anisotropic flow resistance. They can be used as robust valves owing to their passive working mechanism, but for many applications the diodicity is too low. Two-dimensional simulations and optimization over ... En savoir plus
This model demonstrates how to couple the Radiative Beam in Absorbing Media interface to the Radiation in Absorbing-Scattering Media interface. To learn more about this model, see our accompanying blog post “Modeling Absorption and Scattering of Collimated Light”. En savoir plus
The purpose of this model is to introduce the Semitransparent Surface Feature from the Radiation in Participating Media Interface. It is a variation of the Radiative Cooling of a Glass Plate model with the DOM method. In this version a semitransparent surface is defined on external ... En savoir plus
This model shows how to use the features of the Heat Transfer Module to reduce the computation time and memory usage in view factor computations. Illustrative results of speedup and memory usage reduction are given on a benchmark model. The solution is not computed, only the view ... En savoir plus
This tutorial shows how the displacement field of a deformed surface can be fit to a Zernike polynomial basis. The method of linear least-squares fitting is made significantly easier when fitting to an orthonormal basis, such as the Zernike polynomials on a circle. The displacement ... En savoir plus
In this model, we use the Bioheat Transfer interface to solve the Pennes bioheat transfer equation. The problem is in 1D and formulated to be dimensionless. The results are compared against analytical solutions derived in a journal paper (Ref. 1). A mesh convergence study shows that the ... En savoir plus
This tutorial model demonstrates the use of the multiphysics coupling feature Thermal Connection, Layered Shell, Surfaces. In this model, three layered shells are connected to heat domains by interior and exterior boundaries. The results obtained with the Heat Transfer in Shells ... En savoir plus
