Neutralization of a Proton Beam Through a Charge Exchange Cell
Application ID: 16631
Gas cells have several applications in the design of scientific instruments. A gas cell is used to define a high-pressure region within the instrument's main vacuum system. For example, in this application, note we are designing a high-pressure region 100 mm long, with an operating pressure of 1e-3 Torr inside the collision cell and a main vacuum system pressure of 1e-5 Torr. In mass spectrometry, typical applications are the removal of mass spectral interferences in Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICPMS) or as a collision cell promoting ion molecule reactions or fragmentation in tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS).
This model requires the Particle Tracing Module.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products. To determine the right combination of products for your modeling needs, review the Grille des Spécifications and make use of a free evaluation license.
