MRI Birdcage Coil
Application ID: 16991
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems generate a magnetic flux density (B-field) to create images. Providing a homogeneous field distribution within a birdcage coil is a key factor for improving the quality of the scanned data.
A homogeneous magnetic field can be found through quadrature excitation, in combination with the appropriate number of lumped elements.
In this model, the magnetic field is optimized by parameterizing the value of capacitors and maximizing the circular polarity of B-field, around both a human head and an air phantom.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products.
