High Voltage Ferrite Core Transformer
Application ID: 101671
This transformer model demonstrates how to extract the magnetizing and leakage inductances, along with parasitic capacitances. In this case, due to very high turns ratio, the secondary parasitic capacitance has a dominant effect when referred to primary. In experimental measurements, the capacitive behavior dominates the inductive behavior when measurements are done from the primary side.
Frequency domain solution from low frequency up to 100 kHz, above the LC resonance is found either by a 2.5D axisymmetric approach, or from a full Electrical Circuit model where lumped parameters are extracted from multiple 3D simulations estimating separately different lumped parameters.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products.
