Filter Characterized by Imported S-Parameters via a Touchstone File
Application ID: 45571
A Touchstone file describes the frequency responses of an n-port network circuit in terms of S-parameters. This can be used to simplify arbitrarily complex circuits. The Touchstone file can be obtained from numerical simulations or network analyzer measurements.
The obtained file for a two-port network can then be included in simulations without building the complicated shape of the circuit. In this example, a low-pass filter between two coaxial connectors is modeled using a two-port network feature and imported S-parameters via a Touchstone file. The results include electric field distribution within the coaxial connectors and the S-parameters.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products.
