Annular Ultraviolet Reactor, Optically Transparent Water
Application ID: 110991
Fluence rate is a key parameter for ultraviolet (UV) water purifier. It describes the amount of radiation that pathogens absorb and is then directly related to the disinfection level of the purifier.
The aim of this example is to demonstrate the fluence rate calculation with the Surface-to-Surface Radiation interface from the Heat Transfer module. It models an ultraviolet water purifier consisting of a cylindrical lamp surrounded by a cylindrical reactor. The annular region in between represents the water flowing through the purifier. In this model, only the fluence rate is calculated with no consideration for the water flow.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products.
