Capacitance of plate capacitor

Hi
I wonder what the expression:
unr*(down(es.Dr)-up(es.Dr))+unz*(down(es.Dz)-up(es.Dz))
means. I use this expression to calculate the capacitance of the plate capacitor. I use 2D-axial symmetry and integrate over one of the plates. Specially i wonder what "up" and "down" in this expression means.
