about Normal current density boundary condition

I chose electric currents interface to define my model. But I come across some problem with the boundary condition.
I want to define the electrode with some eletric current. So I chose the Normal current density boundary conditon. Then there are two types of Normal current density:1.inward current density, 2. current density( througth which I can define jx jy indenpendently ).
BUT I find that in addition to the normal current density I defined( that means that the current direction is perpendicualr to the boundary), there is always a transverse current density whether i choose type 1 or type 2 normal current density! This bothers me a lot!
And another question: when I want to calculate the current, the expression I can choose includes Normal current density and Current density norm , wha's the different between these two?
can anyone help! Thank you !
