Hi, I'm trying to find an explanation of simple operators like up() and down() in the helpfor Comsol 5.0. It must be there, but where??

Hi,

Operators, including the up and down operators, are documented in the COMSOL Multiphysics Reference Manual. See the Global and Local Definitions chapter, under Operators, Functions, and Constants>Built-In Operators.
