Working with tables

(1) I tried using selections of points so I can evaluate the data at the same position for each case. However, because of the swept feature, the numbering of the points changes from case to case, and I frequently end up with the wrong points in the selection (so data ends up in the wrong column in my table). Is there a more robust way of identifying points?
(2) I wanted to work around this by explicitly specifying points for a 3D cutpoint. This works, but is excruciatingly slow to evaluate. I wouldn't mind if I could set up all the tables and then evaluate them all at once while I go do something else, but as soon as I try to specify the table for the evaluation output, the program starts the evaluation. Is there a way to turn off automatic evaluation/updating?
Thanks,
Noa
