Result parameter animation

Such a strange thing it is and looks like a bug. The "result parameter" mode in the player or animation doesn't work if I use the parameter to loop over in the expression for a plot. If the parameter controls e.g. the position of a slice in a 3D plot it works all right. But should you move it to the expression field, the animated plot won't change although the player seems to be playing and looping over the parameter.
The reason seems to be that you always need to click "update solution" for the new value of the global parameter to take effect and change the plot. Oddly enough it is not the case when the same global parameter is used in some other field of the plot properties.
Is this a bug or is it meant to be this way?
