question about resonator of quartz AT

Hi,
I have simulated a TSM resonator to make up of AT-cut quartz crystal (using piezoelectric devices). In my model, I have to incorporate an adaptation layer of the same material as the piezoelectric disk, considering as a linear elastic damping material, which allows me to avoid unwanted reflections at the exterior edges. Therefore, the adaptation layer acts as an efficient damper for the back-traveling pressure wave. In contrary, stationary acoustic waves would be generated, that would hide the thickness-shear modes...
The problem consists that I have to justify this in my work? If I don't include this layer in my model, thickness-shear modes don't appear.
