How to choose mesh size and domain area

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am trying to calculate the absorption cross-section of a metal nanoparticle on glass substrate. Let's say the size of the particle is around 100 nm. It seems pretty good with a max mesh size 20[nm] in the particle. The problem is when reducing the max mesh size to 10 [nm] in the particle, the field distribution around the particle becomes abnormal.

So my concern is how to do meshing in metal nanoparticles? How to choose the Air and PML domain size related to metal nanoparticle size? How can I make sure the sizes of the meshing and domain sizes are corrected in the calculation?

I am looking forward to having your suggestions. Thank you so much.
Best,
Dr. Kuai Yu
