max number of elements

Hi
anyone can tell me the maximum number of elements COMSOL handle? I know it depends on the system configuration but is there any thumb rule to relate system memory with number of elements and physics.

Hi

check the KB (knowledge base) there are some articles therein, it's rather the DoF that gives you the dimensions, but then the number of matrices needed and their sparsity makes the rule rather rough.
the mesh is one thing, discretization adds up, non linearity and direct/segregated solver schemes adds in ...

I count 2-4 MDoF for my 48 Gb RAM as limit (if I have time to wait)

Good luck
