I am using COMSOL 6.3 Multiphysics and I am trying to model a composite material following COMSOL webinar "COMSOL Webinar: Simulation of Composite Materials". But I am facing two problems as stated in the video he selects layered shell from the structural mechanics tab but in my structural mechanics no layered shell is available. So I selected shell and proceeded. But in the middle he tries to connect the two layers by using continuity boundary equation. But in my case I am not able to see where is the boundary condition.

Kindly help me out with this.

Thank You.

Hello,

The layered shell functionality is available only in the Composite Materials Module, see the spec chart. Have you checked whether the license you are using includes the Composite Materials Module? You can find what modules are on a license under File > User and Licensed Products.

Best regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I just checked my license and realized that it does not include this module. Is there any way to have it added? I am using Southern University Denmark’s COMSOL license.

If I manage to get this module included, it should resolve both of my issues:

The Layered Shell option under the Structural Mechanics tab, which is currently not visible. The option to join two layers using the continuity boundary, which is also missing from my license.

I’d appreciate any guidance you can provide on this.

Best regards, Ali
