I am building a model of an air scrubber which uses packed beds of beaded sorbent. Removal of gas components via adsorption appears to have built-in options in COMSOL, but I am encountering problems.
1) use tds module with Porous Catalyst node. Outcome has been the solver produces errors regarding initial conditions (void equations). Specifically, the "cads_x" value which should be the concentration of x adsorbed.
2) use tds module with Porous Medium node. This appears to have no available means to specify the initial amount adsorbed.
3) use tds module with Pellet Bed node plus reactions which refer to an ODE module to process the reaction rates.
4) use tcs module with Porous Medium plus reactions which refer to an ODE module to process the reaction rates. TCS allows the specification that the reaction transfers the gas component to a different phase.
