Large difference of results between 2D and 3D model: Displacement field

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello all.

I am modeling the displacement field in COMSOL using the Solid mechanics module. As a perturbation source I am using acoustic radiation force as a body load in COMSOL. To derive the acoustic radiation force, I simulated an acoustic pressure intensity field in FIELD II and then I implemented this intensity field in COMSOL using the interpolation (near neighbor) function. After that I defined acoustic radiation force in terms of Intensity using the variable subnode in COMSOL.

I also applied damping methods: (A) Rayleigh damping, (B) Spring foundation, (C) Added mass, in my model.

I started my modeling in 2D and got meaningful results, however applying the same simulation parameters in the 3D model, I am getting unexpected results and not able to validate my model in 3D.

Can anyone please explain to me why?
