Query about Pressure Acoustics Boundary Elements Simulation

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone, so I'm using the pressure acoustics boundary element interface to test a spherical sound source with a sound hard boundary wall.

I'm not sure whether I'm setting this simulation up correctly because I still get sound pressure levels behind the sound hard boundary wall as well when the acoustic wave should only be propagating everywhere else. Currently, I've set the domain selection as infinite void, and set the wall boundary to be a sound hard boundary. Why does it seem like the acoustic waves are propagating through the sound hard boundaries?

I've attached a COMSOL mph file for reference.

Thank you!

Hi,

the mesh is far too coarse. You need at least 4 - 6 mesh elements per wavelength. There may be more errors.

Cheers Edgar

80 kHz and 50 m length scales is not a great starting point. Scale everything to something more realistic first to get a sense of how BEM works.
