Constructing laser light source

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello all,

As light source in my real life setup I have a Helium Neon laser emitting light at lamba = 632[nm] with a spotsize of 0.8[mm].

In Comsol I want simply (as start) to let this light propagate from vacuum (refractive index = 1) into a block of glass (refractive index ~2).

What is the simplest way to 'construct' this laser light source? (I'm currently using version 4.2a)

Kind regards,
Arjan

Hi

if you are at the beam waist, you can use a Gaussian amplitude profile and a flat/plane E field and let that propagate. This should give you about an "gaussian" beam propagation of your laser energy

Good luck
