Principal strain and directions for elastic strain tensor for an elastoplastic model

Dear all,

I want to calculate the Principal strain and directions for ELASTIC strain tensor in a elastic-plastic model. I found that the principla strain and directions given in COMSOL are for the total strain tensor, rather than the elastic strain tensor. Could you please give me some idea how to achieve that?

Thanks a lot.

You can compute eigenvalues and eigenvectors for any symmetric tensor using the Matrix Diagonalization node, found under Definitions->Variable Utilities. To get access to Variable Utilities, you need to enable it under Show More Options.
