ALE for a structural and fluid interaction problem

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am looking at a structural and fluid interaction problem. It is transient diffusion through a deforming porous solid.

I have a transient diffusion equation and the solid mechanics. Solutions to the solid mechanics problem is good. The mesh for the diffusion is moving with the solid velocity.

I am using ALE for this and specified prescribed deformation as the solid displacements. However, I am not getting reasonable solutions for the diffusion problem. Solution to the diffusion problem should be straightforward as the only way the solid mechanics part affects it is through the moving domain.

Could you please shed some light on this? What did I do wrong for the ALE?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best,
Haolin
