Laminar flow and Joule Heating

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I have a model where I'm trying to find the amount of heat produced by two electrodes in a microfluidic channel. When I create the model without laminar flow everything looks fine. The electrical current is flowing and increasing or decreasing the potential increases or decreases the temperature.

As soon as I add laminar flow, all of the velocity profiles look fine, but there is barely any heat generated. After a little searching I noticed the electrical conductivity of the fluid in the channel is no longer active in the material browser. Does this mean that while using the laminar flow model I cannot have electrical current through any of my fluids? Is there any way around this?

Thanks

Hi,
could you upload here the .mph file of the model without the laminar flow? I'm interested in seeing that. I don't know how to solve your problem though.

Thank you,
Shoval

Hi,

Please post an mph file where we can see the problem

Best regards

Julien
