Validation Problem

Hello dear colleagues, so I'm trying to make a simulation that is similar to the one in this paper by (N. Paudel and J. Bird) http://www.jpier.org/PIERB/pierb43/14.12072414.pdf

doing the same boundary conditions and material settings

the curves look the same but the values have some deficit (about 30 N) - the sim by the paper https://goo.gl/fFJwmN - my sim https://goo.gl/E515vb

What could be missing? I'm refining the mesh but it has no effect

Hi Khalid,

Please refer to the following model file from the Application Gallery. This might not have exactly the same dimention or velocity/rotation, but should give you a good understanding of how to setup the COMSOL model for the electrodyanmic weel application. https://www.comsol.com/model/electrodynamic-wheel-magnetic-levitation-in-2d-44871

Good Luck. Nirmal Paudel

Many thanks for your time Dr. Nirmal, I have learned a lot from you.

1)Actually I was already using this model to help me setup my simulation. and the results are logical and close to the paper but as I said there's just some little differences (the paper gives Ft=110N, while mine gives Ft=85N) see the image here: https://goo.gl/Sg8CGB Could it be solver config changes? or something else?

2)The next step in my design I was going to do 3D analysis for EDW; but the rotating machinery in 3D doens't allow translational velocity (lorentz term). what could be an alternative solution? I'm limited to Vx=0m/s only.
