I want to build a model for effect of repeated freeze-thaw cycles on concrete.
The water freezes in cement-paste voids and existing micro-cracks (NOT in gravels) , then the cracks expands and slightly reduces mechanical properties of concrete.
The ice then thawed and the process repeated, say 100 cycles.
I built a 2-D multiphase model consist of cement-paste surrounding aggregates, but how should model pre-cracks? (or micro air-voids, in some kinds of concrete)
and how to model progressive process cracking? a moving mesh ?
Thanks a lot in anticipation !
