Negative electric potential with linearized resistivity

We are simulating a platinum wire on a silicon and silicon dioxide chip, to see it's efficiency as a heater, however, when we apply 'linearized resistivity' with the following properties for platinum;
Ref. resistivity = 10.6e-8
Ref temperature = 298
Resistivity Temperature Coefficient = 0.003927
the electric potential is negative, and it appears that the temperature of the wire (with a current running through it) is cooler than that of the surrounding area.
Why is this occurring, and how can it be resolved?
