Reverse engineer hyperelastic structure

Hi
I am looking to see if it would be sensible, and feasible, to in effect reverse engineer a hyper elastic structure in an attempt to achieve a desired deformed shape.
I can't go into too much detail but I have a rubber structure whose shape I wish to achieve when its deformed. Could I in someway use a set of parameters to help determine what size and shape the initial un-deformed structure needs to be?
Is it possible to define a target shape for my deformed geometry and / or mesh as a whole?
Many thanks in advance.
Colin
