Is it possible to define the maximum size of a mesh near a boundary to be a known function of position along that boundary? For example, in the problem of free convection at a vertical flat plate, it would be optimum to define a mesh which grows as z^(1/4), where z is vertical position along the plate. This way the mesh scales with the thickness of the boundary layer.
