Scattering boundary condition

Hello,
COMSOL documentation tells that a scattering boundary condition makes the boundary transparent for scattered waves and when to use these boundary conditions.
But I haven't found anything about the mathematical background and how they are implemented. Can somebody tell me or give some references?

Not sure if they are the same things, but in literature you can find a thing called absorbing boundary conditions (ABC). They are able to absorb only plane waves, and that is the feature of scattering boundaries in Comsol as well.

Hi
check carefully the doc there are many differneces between scattering boundary, infinite boundary and a perffectly matched boundary, they apply somewhat differently.
The best is to try out a set of simple cases
