Geometry from 3D Scanner

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi all,

I am working on a model where I need to deal with a fairly complex geometry. I am thinking of getting the geometry from a 3D scan and importing it to COMSOL.

In my version of COMSOL under "Import" tab, there are only the following options for "Geometry import":
- COMSOL multiphysics file
- STL/VRML file
- ECAD file (GDS/NETEX-G)
- ECAD file (ODB++)

I will not perform any geometry changes with COMSOL (such as parameter sweep for thickness); but I should be able to select edges/boundaries to define some conditions.

Would using a 3D scanner be a sound option in that case?

Thank you,
Bartu
