Assembly: Artificial intervertebral disk

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear all,

I'm trying to model an artificial intervertebral disk currently used by doctors. The model eventually has to be simular to the following picture: www.spinesurgeon.com.au/modali...scial_discs/CHARITe.jpg

I tried to make an 3D-assembly , made from three parts. When I put a certain load on the top, to compress the disc and try to compute, comsol can't converge to an answer. Is the model too complicated for Comsol or is it badly defined? I even tried to model a more simple version, made from two part, in axisymmetric 2D, with no succes.

How will I be able to model the sliding of the bottom and top parts on the middle part, for instance.
For some reason, contactpairs won't work in my 2D and 3D models.

In advance, thanks for the help

Kind regards,

RJ Brinkhorst
