Modeling a complex structure

The structure I'm modeling is very complex. it's a double layer structure with one wrapped outside the other. The structure is on nanoscale, so the mesh has to be really really fine.

Due to the complexity of the structure, it is very difficult to mesh it or compute. If A coarse mesh is chosen, it often ends up failing to mesh the geometry. If a fine mesh is chosen, the memory runs out fast.

Is there any solution to this? Thanks.

Hi

I know no easy way, but you should consider using symmetry (if applicable) replace thin layers by thin boundary physics (again if applicable), it works only for 1 physics per boundary, so you cannot easily stack multiple thin physics features.
Then often meshing a surface and using sweep across the thin layers (to enforce at least 2 elements per section) might help.
Often a more "cubic (split) geometrical object mesh cleaner than a complex one object geometry i.e. with loops

Another thing you might try is to use your successful fine mesh but change default quadratic discretization order to linear.

To display discretization feature for the physics interface node, click Show button on the Model Builder and then select the Discretization option.
