System configuration for 3D models

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

We are trying to solve 3D models with 25-30 lacs DOF. Our current system configuration is: 4GB RAM, 2.67 GHz Quadcore Processor, 64-bit OS hence we receive an error saying
"Out of memory during LU factorization.
Failed to evaluate consistent initial values
Last time step is not converged."

For example, one specific problem with 5 lacs DOF which could not be solved with our current system however successfully ran on a system with 32GB RAM with a solution time of 13 hrs.

Though we have read the system requirement specifications in the COMSOL website, we seek your suggestion for upgrading our current workstation. Kindly suggest the best suitable hardware configuration (like RAM, no. of cores, processor speed, graphic card specifications etc.) for our licence type. We have a single node locked licence.
