Rotordynamics Analysis Using Solid Mechanics: Rigid Body Modes

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi, I don't have access to the rotordynamics addon, so I am performing rotordynamics analysis using the solid mechanics physics and an eigenfrequency solver.

I am happy with my flexible mode results, but the rigid body modes don't seem to match results from 2D beam theory. The real frequency for the parallel and conical modes just equals the rotation speed. I expected a non-zero imaginary value, but it's only shown occasionally by chance when I get the mesh just right, and only the forward conical mode is shown.

I have seen many threads in the forum to hide or eliminate rigid body modes, but how do I force them to be calculated?

Thanks in advance. Nick
