Hello everybody,
I am working on a project of reed switch .As the fig below(figure1), the reed switch consists of a pair of Iron Nickel Alloy contacts, the contacts are usually normally open, and a magnet is placed above(y direction) the switch.
Here we consider two cases 1. If the magnetization direction of magnet is along the X direction . The tips of two contact will be polarized to opposite polarities, this makes the contact close(figure2). 2. If the magnetization direction of magnet is along the Y direction, The tips of two contact will be polarized as same polarity, this makes a repulsion between the two contacts to move away from each other(figure3).
The simulation results of case1 are as expected(figure4).
However, when simulating case2, we found that there is no repulsion between the contacts, and both contacts will be attracted by the magnet and displaced in the +Y direction(figure5). This does not match the actual measurement result, what could be wrong here?
I have uploaded the .mph file to this discussion, any suggestions will be appreciated and thanks for your attention.
Best Regards, Andy Sun
