Help Needed: Extending Simulation of Magnetic Field (ID:2014) to a time varying MF.

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,
I'm a new Comsol user and would like to ask a practical/technical question regarding one of your demos.
The relevant model ID is 2014, Simulation of Magnetic Brake.
I tried to extend the model to include a time-varying magnetic field. Actually, what I did is simply define the magnetic field as an harmonic function.
No error occured and it runs. However, I suspect that the model equations solve the quasi-static problem,e.g, eddy-current brake force due to time varying magnetic flux change doesn't occur.
It is obvious that while there's a relative velocity between the magnetic pole and the rotating disc an eddy-current force is obtained. However, I'm looking for the exact problem but with the addon of the time-varying phenomena.

Is it possible in Comsol ? Can you help me out in order to extend the current demo model (ID 2014) to my needs ?

Thanks in advance,

Noam Barak

hi i am also working on eddy current brake, it is possible to get result in time varying situation, you send me your model file without mesh and solution, let me see and hope i can find the solution.
