Temperature in Porous Media

Hi,

I have a coupled darcy flow and heat transfer in porous media module.

I would like to independently know the temperature of the fluid and temperature of the porous medium separately, however I see only one temperature. Does anyone know how to incorporate 2 temperatures?

Appreciate any help.

Hi

Normally there is only one temperature T, but it can have different values spatially. This works certainly for models where you have 2 distinct domains fuid/solid.
But, when you mix the two phases into the same domain via physics equation I agree there is an issue, how to disstinguish the two ?
On the other hand, what is the thermal diffusivity of your "dry" porous media and of your fluid, how do they compare, and in which time scale do you consider your model ? it might be that the temperature get uniform so quickly that you can consider only one common average T value anyhow, with suffficient precision for your case
