Approximation of field variable while plotting the results

Hi,
I solved an electostatic problem and discretize the square shape geometry using 60x60 Q4 elements, which results 61x61 nodes. I plotted and extracted the the electric electric field data along a cut line parallel to x axis. In the extracted data, i got 361 data points along the cut line. I want to know that, how does comsol approximate the field variable to obtain the value at the points other than the element nodes along the cut line.
