How to retain selections from 3D domains onto it's 2D cross-section ?

I have 3D model of randomly generated crystals with voronoi tessellation imported into COMSOL. Now I want to check the behavior of the model into one of it's cross-section. I already have cross-section generated by defining work-plane and creating a new geometry by that, but the problem is in my 3D model I have specific grains selected for certain physics and while taking cross-section I specifically want those grains to highlight from the taken cross-section. Is there any way to do so? Need Help! Thank you.
