Metal nanoparticle electrochemical biosensor

Hi,
I am working on a problem, where I have metal nanoparticle on the working electrode for sensing the product of an enzyme in suspension.

My question is, If it is possible to model this in 3D and with just 1 or few nano particles?

I would start with a single particle and model it with an axisymmetric 2D model (assuming that you are talking about spherical particles). If the nanoparticles are so close to each other that during a measurement the diffusion fields of the reactants overlap you must use an array of particles. There is a lot of literature about ensembles of ultramicroelectrodes and how their mass transfer properties are treated.
