Wave-Optics port setting

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi there,
Why in the user-defined port settings, for port with 'wave excitation at this port' set to off, I still need to set the propagation constant of it? I kind of heard from somewhere this port can be used to absorb the incident light without reflection, is this true? If I set the propagation constant to a wrong value, what would be the consequence, do I get some reflection now?
Besides, For a lossy medium, the refractive index is n'-j*n'', should I set the prorogation constant of the port to 2*pi/lambda*n' or 2*pi/lambda*( n'-j*n'')?
I would appreciate your help very much!
Zhengyu
