Expansion of air volume

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,
I want to model to thermal expansion of a certain volume of air (in 2D), contained between solid walls and able to expand upward pushing towards a stretchable membrane. I managed to get some results using "Solid Mechanics" and solid materials but when it comes to air I don't really know how to model the system. Could you please help me?

Thanks a lot.

Enrico

Dear Enrico,

the approach depends on whether your air volume can be assumed to be perfectly mixed or not. IN the first case the following tutorial could give a guideline on how to model gas volumes under pressure in a closed volume.
