Modelling a Non linear Magnetic Material

Hi there,

So I am currently trying to model a non linear magnetic material. The object is a plate of unknown material. The only information I have for the plate is a BH curve. The magnetic field is being generated by a series of multi turn coils with current running through them (think Helmholtz pair) and the plate is located beneath the coils. (and is not saturated.)

Is there any documentation on how to go about defining the permeability of the material as a function of B and H based off a BH curve? I have found a few models that use the materials library but none that go about setting up a BH from a blank new material. Additionally all examples seem to have a fixed permeability where as I would like to have permeability defined as a function.

Hi,

The easiest way to add the user defined BH Curve or HB Curve is to add the "Soft Iron" material from the Material Library under AC/DC folder and modify it's BH curve or HB Curve interpolation data. Finally, you could rename the "Soft Iron" to other the corresponding material. If you already have a .txt data file, you could directly load these data in these interpolation curves.
Please refer to this example for HB Curve implementation using the Soft Iron from the Material Library.

you told that for giving a new material we can give soft iron and ww have to change the B and H values of the material? is it correct??
another question is that ,in the B AND H values there is some relation about the b and h values so where we we can get this relation about the new material??
