Using computed pressure to determine flow

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello.

I am modelling a simple isothermal laminar flow system in 2D consisting of a pipe with one inlet and two outlets.

The input flow rate and pressure is known, and the expression for the output flow rate as a funtion of the pressure is known (linear).

My goal is to determine the pressure inside the pipe, and calculate the actual flow rate out of each outlet.

Since the placement of the outlets are not symmetric compared to the inlet, a different flow rate out of each outlet is expected.

Determining the correct outlet boundary conditions is my problem.

My plan is to use the laminar outflow boundary condition and express the flow rate V0 as a function of the average pressure of the outlet boundary.

But how can I use the average pressure of the outlet boundary in the calculations?

Thanks!
