Electric field propagation through circular waveguide

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone,

I have simulated a straight circular waveguide piece of 19mm diameter for TE01 mode. I have observed that Er and Ez components are zero...Only propagation through Ephi Component along length..What is the reason behind it?

A circular TE01 mode has only an azimuthal component. This is fundamental to the nature of that mode.
See, for example, the Waveguide Handbook by N. Marcuvitz, p. 66, with a picture of the TE01 (also known as H01) mode on p. 77. This famous and excellent text is available for download for free, at ia701200.us.archive.org/31/items/WaveguideHandbook/Marcuvitz-WaveguideHandbook.pdf By the way, if you look elsewhere in that same book, you just may find many of the answers to other questions that you have posted recently to this forum, or that you have been thinking about posting. Enjoy!
