PML in time-domain acoustic module using PDE (Comsol v4.4)

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear all,

I am trying to simulate the response of a structure to an incoming acoustic wave in time-domain, by using the acoustic structure-interaction module. I am working on a 2d-axysim model. I am dealing with BC for my domain.

Trying the various radiation conditions available, I unfortunately get nasty reflected waves that lead to incorrect results. Also, I see that PML is not implemented in time-domain for the acoustic module.

Are you aware of any way to overcome the reflected waves problem in time domain in the acoustic module?

Alternatively, I was trying to implement my own time-domain PML by using the PDE module. However, I have really no idea where to start with the PDE module for correctly modeling the PML in cylindrical coordinates (as my model is in 2D-axysim).
Has anyone already done it? Can someone give me some insight on it?

Thanking in advance for the help,
Alessio Caciagli
